Instant access webcam chat
Use the search field above your contact list to send instant messages to persons who are not in your list. If you want to send an instant message to someone who is not in your contact list, you can use the search field above the list.Click on the contact and select the instant message icon.You can find your conversation history in your Lync client and in Outlook.Double-click on the conversation for which you would like to see the log. Along with your email account, you also can use your Hotmail email address to sign into Windows Live Messenger, which allows you to connect with your contacts in Hotmail sending instant messages, photos and files, and you can even video chat with your webcam.Video chatting using your Hotmail account requires you to adjust a few settings, but once set up, a few clicks initiates a video call. To capture pictures or video, you can use the Camera app included with Windows, but to make video calls or use instant messaging, you must install third-party software.
One of the very first step is of course to check your webcam connection.
Most webcams use the USB port to connect to the PC, so check if your USB cable is properly plugged.
Enter your Hotmail account information and your password. If it is not, adjust the webcam so it points directly at you. Click on a contact on your contacts list in Windows Messenger.
Plug your USB webcam into an open USB port on your computer, if you do not already have a webcam installed on your monitor or laptop. Use the sliding arrows to adjust brightness and contrast so your video calls appear clear. Click the icon of a webcam to initiate a video call.
